Mamma Mia Review
I saw Mamma Mia by Catherine Johnson on Sunday March 1.  I really enjoyed the show, It kept me thinking on what’s going to happen to next. I really did see Mamma Mia from a different point of view seeing little changes from the movie into acting it out which is why i think i enjoyed it so much. The live music from the pit to the actors and even the costumes felt like it was something you would see on tv.
The show starts off with Sophie the bride to be sending letters to three different men. She found these men in her mother diary and one is her potential dad. Her best friends arrive to celebrate her big day, and when they arrive they are just as nosy to read more about these men. They try to understand which man could be her father based off of what sophies mother wrote but all the writing was very similar.  Sophies mother Donna also had her best friends Tanya and Rosie to celebrate the big day and the three of them sung about the stress Donna is under. The moment sophie has been waiting for happand, her three potential dads showed up. They are all asking about Donna because they think the letter was from her but Donna has no idea they are here. As time went on Donna eventually runs into the three men at her hotel bar she questions why they are all here and they all keep sophies secret about inviting them a secret. Donna and The Dominos perform for Sophie’s bachelorette party and it puts everyone in a good mood. But Donna had some men to deal with. Harry wants to take her down the aisle, bill wants to take her away for harry. They all talk about there feeling and what they want with there life. The night goes on and everyone is getting ready for the big day. Sophie starts to get cold feet because she told sky her fiance about why the three men were here and he took it as thats why she wanted a big wedding and shes not marrying him because shes loves him shes marrying him because she wants to figure out stuff for herself. They argue a little and she convinces him that she loves him and wants to marry him for the right reasons. The big day has come around and everyone is filled with joy. Sophie doesn’t know what to do because she wants to know who her dad is. Everyone gets ready for the wedding and when sophie is suppose to say I do she didn’t say that she told her mom why the men were here and she wants to know who her father is. Donna doesn’t know how to respond because she doesn’t know herself. Sam takes this opportunity to tell Donna how he has never stopped loving her and wants to move forward with her. They end up stealing the moment and sam and donna get married.
I really did enjoy the show and the way it was produced was very cool to see a movie I love in a different way. The bright colorful costumes and the set design definitely had a lot to do with the mood of how everything came out.  One thing that really stood out to me though was the love that everyone had for one another weather they were family or not. The love between sophie and and the characters and just the love between characters in sophies life was a really big part of the show and it was an evident in the show.
